The footage, posted on the official EDL Bournemouth’s Facebook Page and shared across several other divisions, takes advantage of Hawking’s synthesised voice to pretend he holds the EDL’s right-wing views reports the Huffington POst.
It appears to show the physicist saying: “In England politicians are lying, useless c**ts. Thankfully groups like the EDL are helping the English media wake up to the threat posed by the Islamification of England.”
The fraudulent video goes on to rail against Muslims, calling for no mosques and no Muslim schools in the UK.
The clip was criticised as “inappropriate and incredibly disrespectful” by the Motor Neurone Disease Association and has also come under fire on Twitter, with many calling for its removal.
