Facebook Deals is set to hit Europe in a move which will see Facebook users entitled to discounts in retail outlets.

Facebook Deals, which has already been introduced in the United States, offers Facebook users deals in shops and posts a notice on their Facebook wall when they claim a deal – thereby publicising it to their friends.

Facebook Deals will be launched in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Canada next Monday. Eventually, the service will be worldwide.

UK partners include Yo Sushi and Starbucks, which will offer a free coffee to the first 30,000 customers using Facebook Places on Monday.

Facebook Places allows users to broadcast their location, opening up even more revenue opportunities for the website. Facebook hopes that the move will encourage users to access Facebook via their mobile phones.
