The August musical showpiece over three days will be missing indie band – Viola Beach – who died in a car accident in Sweden nearly a year ago, will be paid tribute to, by both sites.
The band had a nine-track album put together after their deaths. It reached the top of the charts earlier this year, as a fitting tribute to the Warrington musicians.
Coldplay also paid tribute to the promising talent, by playing one of their songs in their headlining Glastonbury set.
In a short statement put out by the organisers of the festival, they said “It was on the BBC Music Introducing stage at Reading and Leeds where the boys played one of their earliest festival sets, showcasing their irrepressible energy and huge potential. We will be dedicating a moment on the Main Stage to the ‘boys that sing’ whose lives were tragically cut short. Join us in celebrating their memory at Leeds on Friday at 17:35 and Sunday 18:05 at Reading.”
Performing on the main stage are; Foals, Disclosure, Churches, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Imagine Dragons, Courteneers, Biffy Clyro, Fall Out Boy and The Vaccines.Have a wicked time, it’s going to be a top weekend.
