Gilgamesh

The Stables Market, Chalk Farm Rd, NW1 8AH.
Tube: Camden Town

The scene: Probably the most beautiful bar in London, Gilgamesh is adorned with hand-carved bronze and wooden statues inspired by the ancient city of Babylon. Sit back on the stylish semi-circle sofas with a drink, have a professional head massage and you’ll feel miles away from hectic city life.

The grub: There’s a Pan-Asian lounge menu of sushi, dim sums, and spring rolls.

Behind the bar: Sample some delish Asian-influenced cocktails including the refreshing EA; or fruit/berry vodka fusion of Shurruppuk.

Bill please: OK, so we said it was divine – we didn’t say it would come cheap. Cocktails start at £10.50; a bottle of Tiger beer is £4.20, wines from £19 a bottle. And if you really want to splash out, there’s even a £2500 bottle of bubbly.

Verdict: The place to go if you want to impress or do a bit of celeb spotting.
