A 15 year old girl claims she was raped by a stranger at Bestival.
The teen told police she was attacked near the main stage between 7.30 and 8.30 pm at the Robin Hill Country Park site on the Isle of Wight.
She described the assailant as black, in his 20s, of large muscular build, 6ft tall with braided hair and said he was wearing a white top with a navy blue collar and navy blue short sleeves and wellington boots.
A police spokesman appealed “for witnesses who know this man or who may have seen someone matching this description walking with a teenage girl in or near the Bestival main area on the evening of Sunday. “
"Officers are also appealing to this man directly to make contact so the full circumstances can be established as soon as possible."
"The 15-year-old girl, who is from the Isle of Wight, is being looked after by police officers and staff with expertise in dealing with sexual offences."
Bestival promoters are reportedly assisting the police with their enquiries.
This year more than 50,000 people flocked to see The Cure, Primal Scream, Brian Wilson, Magnetic Man and Robyn perform at the festival which was founded by DJ Rob Da Bank.
