What’s this week’s show going to be about?
It will be gambling related. I am doing a show for this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe on the subject of my gambling addiction.
Who inspired you to pick up a mic and take to the stage?
As a kid we would go and see the Christmas pantomine – I was always jealous of the actors up on the stage. I wanted to be up there. I guess I wanted the attention.
What’s the funniest thing you have seen?
I once saw a video of [Seventies rock drummer turned stand-up comedian] Charlie Chuck smashing up a drum kit while shouting at it as though it were an errant child.
What was your first show like?
Believe it or not it was in the very same room that I am playing at [on Tuesday], The Camden Head [in Islington]. On that occasion I fluked it. It went too well. I thought this comedy lark is easy. It isn’t.
