You wouldn’t have know who won from their celebrations though, and the duo were joined by 19-year-old Emma McKeon in another one, two, three in the pool for the Aussies.
“I am stoked to share the podium with these girls,” Cate said. “An incredible week for everyone.”
Cate turned 0.45 seconds ahead of the world mark, but soon had Bronte to worry about as the younger sibling came home strong.
“I was not breathing towards her, I was just trying to catch up,” Bronte said.
“It is like training, she always gets a start on me, but it was a great race by all three of us. I am so proud of these girls.”
McKeon has now won five medals in Glasgow after joining the Campbell sisters in the 4x100m, along with the 4x200m, 200m freestyle and a bronze in the 100m butterfly.
In other Aussie golden moments on day five Laetisha Scanlan and Warren Potent won their respective shooting events.
New Zealand’s Sally Johnson claimed one of her country’s eight golds in the 50m rifle prone.
