This really is the week for monumental rock events. The Kings of Leon will have flattened the grass nicely at Hyde Park – where the Southerners will be performing headline gigs on Jun 22-23 – in time for Mormon rockers The Killers, Brit-pop revivalists Kaiser Chiefs and Nineties indie act James to get the Hard Rock Calling party started on Friday.

Big hitters Bon Jovi and Ray Davies will pick up the baton on Saturday with veterans Rod Stewart, Stevie Nicks (right) and Adam Ant going out with a bang on the Sunday night.
