Peter Mark came across a large white trailer on a beach which contained a rusty Harley Davidson motorbike, with a Japanese licence plate. 



The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and the Japanese consulate carried out investigations based on this information and discovered that the bike was registered to the Miyagi Prefecture (pictured above), a region on the Japanese coast which was hit hardest by the tsunami of March last year. 



It comes shortly after news last month of a football being discovered in Alaska having floated across the Pacific Ocean.  The owner’s name was inscribed on the ball allowing it to be returned to sixteen year-old Misaki Murakami, whose family had lost all their possessions in the disaster.
