Social media anarchy ruled as the once-mighty HMV British music store chain fired its head office employees. Twitter followers were given a blow by blow account of the grim proceedings.
“There are over 60 of us being fired at once! Mass execution, of loyal employees who love the brand” said one message.
The tweets have since been taken down.
In a bitter account of the company hierarchy, one message read “Just overheard our Marketing Director (he’s staying, folks) ask “How do I shut down Twitter?” #hmvXFactorFiring”

I suspect whoever had control of the @hmvtweets account has been gaffa taped and bundled into a cupboard by management. #hmvxfactorfiring

Quick management lesson. Don’t fire your social networking team before you take the official account off them #hmvxfactorfiring
