OVERVIEW This boutique B&B in the cute Cornish village of St Agnes is worth finding, but there are no guarantees that you will. Tucked down a greenery-fringed driveway off a tiny country lane, even if you do manage to locate it, there’s the mettle-testing matter of a Herculean motor vehicle manoeuvre to get off the lane and into the car park. Still, persevere and you’ll find a small but perfectly formed little nest just moments’ walk from the nearest surf beach and a handful of sleepy pubs. The village is just a 30-minute drive from happening Newquay if you’re after some action.

WOW FACTOR Two things: this is not one of those establishments in which the hostess wants to grill you about your family tree every time you walk through the front door – we were left in perfect peace on our visit. The other is the full English breakfast, cooked to order and still making cameos in our feverish dreams today.

ROOMS The word is probably ‘pokey’, but what the rooms lack in square metres, they make up for in style. Each has been decorated differently, but all are contemporary and cosy, and come with en suite, TV, DVD player and bathrobes. Oh, and Cornish shortbread.

BILL PLEASE Twins from £105pn, including breakfast.
