Insurance company More Than prototyped the stairlift, known as the “Stair of the Dog 2022”, in response to a doggie obesity epidemic that the firm says could see 52% of UK mutts dangerously overweight by 2022.
The device, which Rex can activate with a simple paw press, is expected to cost £5,000.
“This is a vision of the future we don’t want to see become a reality,” says More Than’s John Ellenger.
He suggested that dog owners show their canine friends some love without giving them “inappropriate and fat-laden foods.”
Not too much of that healthy food though ay, John, otherwise you’ll have no one to sell your doggie stairlift to.
