One Air Canada passenger captured unbelievable footage of careless baggage handlers tossing their stuff off a seven-metre boarding platform and into a steel container below – in what looked like a bid to avoid using the stairs.
The airline has since apologised, tweeting that the actions in the video, filmed at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, “don’t represent our procedure”.
“We are disappointed & sorry about what happened,” it said.
The employees in question have been suspended and face the sack “pending the outcome of our investigation,” Air Canada spokesman Angela Mah said.
Passengers had been asked to check their carry-on luggage because there wasn’t enough room in overhead compartments.
The YouTube video, posted last Thursday, already has over 1 million hits.
