After adopting Cedric from a friend, Miles discovered not all was well with Cedric, and went on gofundme.com to ask for £200 to help fund Cedric’s operation – and thanks to national coverage, he’s raised just over £500.
According to Miles’ page, Cedric has had an initial check-up and he will have to have this part of his anatomy amputated.
The poor tortoise is currently too poorly for the surgery, so Miles is hoping with some medication, Cedric will be able to go under the knife – and will be back to normal soon.
Cloacal organ prolapse is a fairly common condition in tortoises and can result from trauma from mating injuries.
Speaking on his gofundme.com page, Miles thanked everyone who had donated.
“Thank you so much to everyone who has donated,” he said. “The level of support from you all is overwhelming and we are very grateful.”
