Films starring actress and model Isabella Rossellini alternatively as a randy duck and a migrating salmon are part of a London exhibition explaining the science behind sex.
The films written and co-directed by Rossellini and dubbed “Green Porno” show the onetime face of Lancome portraying the bizarre sex lives of animals with help from paper puppets, foam props and some quirky costumes.
The film star, who is the daughter of movie legend Ingrid Bergman and director Roberto Rossellini and was once married to Martin Scorsese explained her interest in making the films: ”I’ve always been interested in animals and animal behaviour. Among the things you read about is their sexual lives, their reproduction, if they take care of their babies, what they eat, etc.”
“And everybody’s interested in sex, so I figured, let’s go there. I wanted people to laugh, but then to leave and say, ‘Wow. I didn’t know about that’.”
The films, which also examine the sex lives of snails, salmon and spiders, feature in an exhibition called Sexual Nature at the Natural History Museum in London.
It includes photographs and more than 100 specimens from the museum.
The museum boasts: “You’ll be amazed at what nature gets up to.
The exhibition runs from February 11 to October 2.
