Jackass star Ryan Dunn was killed in a car accident early this morning when his car hit a tree and burst into flames. Twitter is flooded with tributes, with many fans suggesting, though, that Dunn may have been drink driving.
Dunn, 34, and another man in the car both died at the scene.
The crash happened at 3:30am this morning near the Jackass star’s home in West Goshen, Pennsylvania. He was travelling home in his Porsche after a night out with some friends.
After the bodies were pulled from mangled wreckage, Dunn was identified by his tattoos.
The mother of Dunn's Jackass co-star Bam Margera reportedly called a local radio station to confirm that he had been killed in a car accident.
Ryan Dunn’s Jackass co-star Steve O was reportedly too upset to speak when approached by RadarOnline.com for comment on his friend’s death.
The cause of the car rash is not yet known.
Late on Sunday night, Ryan tweeted a picture of himself with two friends holding what appeared to be alcoholic drinks.
MTV issued this statement on Twitter morning: “We're deeply saddened by the passing of a member of the MTV family, Ryan Dunn. Our hearts and thoughts are with his friends and family.”
Dunn was one of the stars of Jackass, the MTV show in which he and a group including Steve O, Bam Margera and Johnny Knoxville carried out dangerous or grotesque stunts.
After Jackass, Dunn appeared in the films that came from the show and on the spin-off series, Viva La Bam.
He co-hosted a US show, Proving Ground, which premiered last week.
Twitter has been flooded with comments about Dunn’s death, may of which suggest that fans believe he may have been drink driving.
“I'm surprisingly upset about Ryan Dunn. Next time i see one of my friends about to drive drunk I'm punching them in the face,” tweeted chrisDAPS.
“Ryan Dunn has done many stupid things in his life, but drinking and driving by far is the dumbest…” says DwayneDuggerII.
