It has been tested for radiation, and while none has been found, it is being guarded by the police on a beach to the south of Portland, while the authorities decide what to do with it. %u2028%u2028
It is the latest of a series of objects to have washed up on the other side of the Pacific after the devastating tsunami which hit Japan last year. %u2028%u2028
It is expected that a wealth of debris is yet to wash up on the%u2028 beach over the coming months and the ensuing winter.
