Peel’s impressive 25,000 records and 40,000 singles – amongst which there is sure to be a copy of his fave single, The Undertones’ Teenage Kicks – is to be part of The Space.
John Peel Centre for the Creative Arts Tom Barker says of highly ambitious project: “It’s the firt step in creating an interactive online museum with access to the entire collection, one of the most important archives in modern music history.”
The project is intended not only to give music fans access to Peel’s ‘back catalogue’ but also to be able to interact and add to it, permitting them access to filmed interviews he did and to his own personal notes too.
The Space will run from May to October across a variety of platforms including computers, smartphones and Freeview TV.
