Whereas Dubai set out to build a city in the desert from scratch with none other than sheer will and money, Korea has unveiled its plans for a new tourism project which would see a city built on the islands of Yongyu-Muui.

The staggering proposition would span 80 square km and would house casinos, theme parks, hotels and condominiums, and a rather large amount of shops, too.

It would also, most eye-catchingly hold the honour of being home to the world’s largest single architectural unit, a 3.3km/200m high megastrip.

The aim is for the project to be ready and open for business by 2030, and it will cost but a snip at $264 billion.
