Design legend Dieter Rams, whoise work is ondisplay at the Design Museum, enshrined 10 principles of good design, insisting design should be long-lasting, unobtrusive and innovative.
Rams’ ground-breaking vision underpinned products of German company Braun in the late 20th century, and his influence can be detected in more recent brands, such as the iPod.
Quotes from Rams line the walls of this exhibition, espousing his anti-fashion, functional philosophy.
And the exhibition is heaven for design nuts, or anyone who likes cool furniture and homewares.
Highlights include old cream-coloured stereos with wooden upholstery, made in the 1970s before the market was swamped by black boxes and stainless steel.
