The London Restaurant Festival is bringing a fortnight of food events and special menus to town in a culinary celebration.

London Restaurant Festival is about to launch a city-wide culinary journey with all manner of delicious menus, foodie events and more taking place across the city.  “The goal is to create original and fun ideas for activities that excite both the restaurant-goers and the restauranteurs,” says LRF founder Simon Davis. “You know that frisson you get when you crack open an egg and it’s a double yolker? I want a similar cocktail of thrill, surprise and reward for anyone who takes part in LRF!”

The festival will take place over two weeks, bringing all manner of tasty events to town with special festival menus at restaurants across the city and one off food-themed events, too. A key part of the festival, though is ‘restaurant hopping’, as Davis explains. “Eating in several restaurants over the course of a meal time, that’s one of the essences of LRF.” So you can have a starter in one restaurant, hop on over the road to grab your main before winding up sampling dessert somewhere completely different in a dining experience unlike any other.

One of the main components of this is the LRF Gourment Odyssey, which has three tours around London, taking in a course in a different restaurant, and will feature the much talked about restaurants aqua Shard and Hutong in the city’s iconic skyscraper, The Shard.

There will also be themed culinary tours, in which you will be treated to the cuisine of particular countries from around the world as part of Tapas Tours, Ciccheti Trails and Japanese Journeys events in which you can sample some of the finest Spanish, Italian and Japanese food in London.

The festival’s Graze passport will allow diners to sample a small ‘grazing’ plate at 12 participating restaurants across London including Providores, Arbutus, Dishoom, Cotidie and Rotary. You’ll also get a complimentary drink thrown in, too.

Those who like their traditional roast on a weekend will be delighted to hear that the festival is holding a Sunday Best event in which world renowned chefs including Jason Atherton, Theo Randall (right) and Angela Hartnett will be cooking one-off Sunday lunches, followed by a meet and greet with the diners afterwards in which they’ll spill the beans on their kitchen creations.

TV presenter and film fan Jonathan Ross will also be getting involved with all the food frivolity and will be  hosting a very special event. A three-course dinner will be cooked inspired by his favourite film, the 2001 Japanese animated fantasy Spirited Away, which will be accompanied by a screening of the film, too.

“From the big name chefs to the toilers who are washing up, London has an unrivalled culinary chutzpah,” Davis explains of what drives London Restaurant Festival.

“It’s about getting out and discovering as many restaurants as you can in a fun way and for all budgets. There’s an insatiable appetite in London for eating out and sharing that experience and LRF feeds it. No matter what your culinary skills are, you’d be a fool to miss out on what is going to be a taste-bud delighting fortnight.
