Prosecuters have told Snaresbrook Crown Court in east London that Kevin Hutchinson-Foster handed Mark Duggan a loaded gun hidden inside a shoebox shortly before he was confronted by police.
However, no gun was found on Duggan after he was shot by police.
A handgun was found later in Ferry Lane, Tottenham Hale. Prosecuter Edward Brown QC said that it had previously been in Duggan’s posession after he picked it up from the girlfriend of Hutchinson-Foster.
Apparently Duggan then headed to Tottenham Hale where he was stopped by police.
“It was not long into this second part of his journey that the minicab with Mark Duggan inside was stopped by police.” Brown told the court, according to the BBC.
“There in Ferry Lane Mark Duggan was shot and fatally injured by the police as a result of his possession of that gun and what he was thought to be about to do with it,” he continued.
The court heard that phone records showed that Duggan and Hutchinson-Foster had been in contact. Hutchinson-Foster has denied selling or transferring a prohibited firearm to Duggan, as the trial contines.
