Morrissey has again upset fans by saying last week’s massacre in Norway was “nothing” compared to the number of animals killed every day for fast food.
Vegetarian singer Morrissey gave his thoughts on the terror attacks that killed at least 76 people while on stage in Warsaw, Poland on Sunday night, saying that it is far worse that fast food chains are killing animals.
Before playing his song, Meat is Murder, he said: “We all live in a murderous world, as the events in Norway have shown, with 97 dead.
“Though that is nothing compared to what happens in MCDonald's and Kentucky Fried Shit every day."
Smiths v Cameron: Morrissey backs Marr
This isn’t the first time he has spoken out about animal rights. He once called the Chinese a “sub-species” for how they treated animals.
Morrissey also refused to tour Canada in 2006 in protest of seal hunting.
Angry fans took to internet forums to voice their disgust with the singer. One wrote: “The killing of children compared to KFC & McDonald’s?!!! What an asshole!’
Another fan said: “I really don’t know if that is forgivable? Or of any use to the vegetarian cause?’
A spokesman for Morrissey said: “Morrissey has decided not to comment any further as he believes his statement speaks for itself.’
