N-Dubz could split up now that Tulisa is devoting her energy to X Factor, according to a friend of Dappy’s. Both Tulisa and Dappy are said to be considering solo careers.
Tulisa Contostavlos has been hogging the headlines recently in her new role as a judge on X Factor, leaving her band N-Dubz in the shade.
Her cousin Dappy is so angry about it, he is now planning for a solo career, sans N-Dubz, according to The Sun.
N-Dubz were always outspoken about their disdain for “cheats” who begin their music industry careers on talent shows, so Tulisa’s defection to X Factor has come as a serious blow to the band.
Enough so that Dappy has signed up with Tinchy Stryder’s management to launch a solo career.
A source said: "Dappy is livid about the whole situation. Tulisa has a new passion now – and that's not what they got into the business for.
"He has thrown himself into his solo career because, as far as he is concerned, N-Dubz is all but over.
"The last album didn't do as well as he hoped and X Factor has caused a lot of problems between them."
According to reports, Tulisa is also planning a solo career to launch off the back of the exposure she gains from X Factor.
However a spokesman for N-Dubz said: "The band will continue despite solo projects. They have gigs throughout 2011 and plans are in place for another single and album. The band are definitely not splitting up."
Tulisa appeared to back this up earlier this month when she tweeted: “Hi guys I'm back, sorry Ive been gone so long, just needed a time out, just wana let u know, NDUBZ r not splitting.”
There’s no denying that Tulisa is focusing on X Factor at the moment though and her work has been paying off.
An insider told the Daily Star: "Tulisa looks sensational on camera and we think fans will love her no-nonsense attitude.
"Everyone thought she would be the weak link on the panel. But it's the total opposite. This girl is a star."
N-Dubz fans will be relieved to hear that the band will definitely be finishing their tour, which includes ten more dates.
