24 year old Fyfe polled a record 17 votes in the first eight rounds of the season and a striking 31 votes to beat West Coast’s Matt Priddis.

He is the first player from Freemantle to win a Brownlow Medal.

Fyfe logged nine three vote games in 13 competitions, totaling the record for a Brownlow Medal winner set by Greg Williams in 1994.

Don’t expect to see much more of Fyfe until 2016. He is waiting for a plate to be implanted into his left leg after fracturing his fibula during last Friday’s opening.

A clash with Hawthorn’s Brian Lake left Fyfe limping for the rest of the game.

Later scans discovered that he has a fracture.
