Craig Mandell has set a target of $1000 as part of his Don’t Let Nickel Back campaign to keep the band from playing any more London shows, with everyone who donates to the campaign getting an email sent on their behalf to the band’s management. The more people who donate and the more money that is raised, the harsher said email will be!
“Just imagine, thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of music lovers – all not witnessing an exclusive concert by Nickelback in London,” Mandell wrote on his Tilt page.
“It will be glorious.”
Kroeger clearly has a sense of humour about the whole thing, though, but then when you’re in one of the most derided band going, there probably isn’t much more you could do about it. He did, however, make a good point.
“Äll these critics, they’re just tireless,” he continued explaining that if it hadn’t been for all the negative publicity the band had endured then they would have “die out years ago”.
Nickelback attained global status with their Noughties tracks such as How You Remind Me an Rockstar, but despite commercial success and popularity – they have sold over xxx recors across the globe, they have been routinely planned by critics and music fans alike.
Then again, if you have a shitload of money in the bank and get to tour the world with your six-string playing to your fans, who really gives a damn. Kroeger and co surely have the last laugh!
