The Proclaimers (W14)
Fortified by an unlikely No. 1 single a couple of years ago, the Celtic soul brothers have kept on the path that first brought them fame 20 years ago: big-hearted, sentimental and uncomplicated rock, chiefly designed for hand-clapping and lighter-waving.
Their lyrics, as ever, are pretty platitudinous – the lead-off single is called Love Can Move Mountains, which gives you the general idea – but, delivered with such stridency, it’s hard to resist.
