For a short stay explore the beaches, take long walks on the beachfront, visit the harbour, laid back restaurants and pubs or do a heritage or ghost walk in the historical older part of the city called Central.

Most longer stay visitors use Port Elizabeth as a spring-board for visiting game reserves such as the Addo Elephant National Park and the surrounding rural wilderness areas such as the Baviaans Valley Wilderness Area, the Gamtoos River or Sondags River Valleys with their numerous guest farms or the Langkloof and Garden Route drives towards Cape Town.
