The trial is set to start on the airlines Sydney and Melborne routes to Los Angeles.

During the trials passengers across all of Qantas’s classes will have access to the devices.

Alison Webster told the SA Business Journal any passenger could use Wi-Fi allowing devices such as iPhones, BlackBerrys and tablet computers to access the internet on Qantas for the first time.

“Part of the offer will be charged for,” she said.

“But passengers in premium cabins would get it free, to check its speed and accessibility.”

In the future Qantas hopes to bring the service to the majority of its routes, allowing all kinds of internet accessability on their flights, from laptops to phones.
