A mass bird death in Romania was caused not by avian flu but from binge drinking as it was revealed that the starlings drank themselves to death.
Dozens of dead birds were found in Constanta, eastern Romania, on Saturday and it was originally thought they had died from avian flu.
However a vet who examined the birds decided that they had died from alcohol poisoning after eating grape ‘marc’ – leftovers from the wine-making process.
