The movie is an English language remake of the 2009 Swedish film adapted from the first book in Stieg Larsson’s best selling Millenium trilogy.

It tells the story of journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Craig) who teams up with computer hacker Lisbeth Salander (Mara) to investigate the murder of the daughter of a wealthy family.

It is directed by David Fincher (The Social Network, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button)

.

Speaking on the red carpet, Mara said: “I think everyone can relate to the feeling of being misunderstood or outcast at some point in their life. People can relate to people in a position of power abusing that power.”

Craig spoke further of the relationship between the two lead characters, saying: “They come together in an extreme situation and sometimes when that happens with people they fall in love or find a way of getting together. They are both trying to solve this mystery and they share a lot in common about life and it’s not immediately obvious that they like each other.”

When asked about the film’s director and how he chose to make his version of the story his own, co-star Stellan Skarsgard, who plays one of the main suspects in the film, said: “Any good film is good because it has the personal view of the director that does it, and David Fincher has a very strong view of everything that he does, so it will be interesting.”
