Champion water-skier Sarah Teelow, 21, has died following a fall during a race on Hawkesbury River.
She sustained serious injuries after coming off her skis after the start of the Bridge to Bridge Water Ski Classic on Sunday, and died on Monday evening in hospital.
NSW police are investigating how Teelow fell off her skis, and looking at reports that she encountered difficulties after she hit a wake created by another boat.
Ski Racing Australia posted the following message on their website on Sunday, November 24:
”The Board of Ski Racing Australia , governing body of ski racing, has confirmed the passing of one of the sport’s most accomplished young competitors as a result of a fall in the Bridge to Bridge Classic on the Hawkesbury River (Sunday November 24).”
Teelow became the Women’s World Formula Two champion earlier this year.
