Scientists could find alien life before 2050 claims Lord Rees former Royal Society President

Sceptics will think it’s bonkers, but Lord Martin Rees, who’s been the Queen’s astronomer since 1995 is convinced finding alien life is a possibility. He says astro-physics will be so advanced by 2025 that physicists will be able to decipher images of distant planets, which are beyond our solar system.
Rees spoke at of Professor Stephen Hawking’s launch of the new season of Grand Designs. In the next 40 years Rees said that “origin of life, the place where it exists, and whether aliens exist, is going to be crucial,” reported the Daily Mail.
“We know now that stars are orbited by retinues of planets just as our sun is. We have learned this in just the last decade, essentially. “Within 10 or 20 years we will be able to image other planets like the earth, orbiting other stars.
“That will be a really exciting subject to see if there is evidence for [extra-terrestrial] life or not.”
Since the financial crisis, it’s thought that the search for extra-terrestrial life may be affected due to lack of funding. Organisations such as the SETI institute may have to limit their space investigations unless they find a heavy dose off funding.
