An experiment carried out by Dr Yuki Kamitani, from the ATR Computational Neuroscience Laboratories in Kyoto, Japan saw subjects sleep inside an MRI machine, and then when the brain scans indicated that they were most likely dreaming they were worked up and asked to describe what they had been dreaming about. These descriptions were then organised by topic and MRI read outs matched together.
The subjects were then asked to go to sleep again and after monitoring the MRI brain wave reports the scientists behind the study were able to predict what they’d been dreaming about.
