The upmarket supermarket said in a statement that it had stopped selling frozen burgers made by Dalepak, one of the firms found to have had unauthorised horse in some products.
An estimated 10 million burgers have been taken from sale in the UK and Ireland since some lines in Tesco, Aldi, Lidl and Iceland were found to have horsemeat.
Despite the precautions taken, Waitrose say their burgers are 100 per cent “moo” and nought per cent “neigh”.
“We are 100% confident in the integrity of our supply chain,” it said. “The ingredients in our burgers are simple with all meat traceable back to British farms that we know.”
