Brash newcomer Jessie J is on track for success after the singer topped the BBC’s influential Sounds of 2011 list.

22-year-old Jessie J beat a promising longlist which included hotly tipped up and comers such as Jamie Woon, Clare Maguire and The Vaccines and The Naked And The Famous.

The Essex born singer first came to prominence with with attitude-laced R&B pop tunes such as Nobody’s Perfect and paean to approaching sex like a bloke, Do It Like A Dude, all delivered in a powerhouse voice.

Jessie J claims to have originally written Do It Like A Dude for Rihanna. She has since said that she is glad she kept the tune for herself.

NME hailed her as the new face of “bump ‘n’ grind” and last year, Jessie J was named as the winner of the Critics’ Choice Award for this  year’s Brit Awards on February 15.

No stranger to the music industry, Jessie J – real name Jessica Cornish – helped pen the US Number One single Party In The USA for Miley Cyrus.

In previous years the Sounds of 2011 has tipped Ellie Goulding and Mika for success.
