A month after the same score line in Brazil, Australia another lesson from a far superior outfit who enjoyed a chance to practice in front of goal.
German manager Holger Osieck will now be keeping an eye on his phone with speculation that another flogging to his side could mean the end of his stint Down Under.
Australia is already in the World Cup finals, but their showings against quality opposition are hinting at embarrassment come Brazil next year.
In his defence, France were top notch, wtih Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud on target, and Bayern Munich menace Franck Ribery scoring a penalty and setting up four others.
Karim Benzema, overlooked for Giroud, came on to join Newcastle United duo Yohan Cabaye and Mathieu Debuchy on the scoresheet.
France showed they were well up for it in the opening stages and blew Australia away.
A bizarre penalty started the rot with Portuguese referee Artur Ribeiro deciding David Carney handled in the box (must say something that he, the ref, was in Paris when there were so many games with stakes going on in Europe).
Ribery slotted from the spot and it was 1-0 after eight minutes.
He went on to carve up the left side, as he does whenever he crosses the white line.
The second came though him again and Giroud cooly chipped past debutant goalkeeper Mitch Langerak.
Ribery then found Samir Nasri who gave Giroud another chance to add to his tally on 27 minutes – France had some serious talent on offer.
Then, two minutes later, Ribery knocked square for Cabaye to join the party.
Halftime was welcome but within six minutes after it Debuchy scored on the half-volley and Benzema took advantage of another Ribery cross.
Thankfully for Osieck, Ribery went off after about an hour, but still debutant keeper Mitch Langerak was left to keep the damage minimalised.
