Split in 1-2 days
Start your day with a bit of history and wander through Diocletian’s Palace taking in the sights of some of the grand, old buildings within the palace walls. Head to Saint Dominus Cathedral and ask whether the crypt is open for viewing. Take the walk up to the top of the bell tower for some great picture opportunities of the beautiful view. Once you have made your descent, grab an ice cream and head to the Peristyle to rest your feet. In the evening, head to one of Split’s many bars for some drinks and dancing.
In the morning go for a browse at Split’s daily markets near the bus terminal to see what the locals are buying and selling from fruit, veg and olive oil to clothing and other bits and pieces. If you’re keen for a dip, head to Bacvice beach, one of the busiest beaches in the area and follow this with some lunch and a cold drink in one of the beachside cafes (for a less busy beach, try Kasjuni beach, which is prettier but further away). After a peaceful lunch, take a walk to Marjan Forest Park to take in some marvellous views of the city.
