The course is flat and fast, suitable for a PB attempt, some pre-marathon speed work or just as a good race in itself. There’s official chip timing and sports massages available afterwards while the winners take home a trophy and all participants will receive a medal, t-shirt and a healthy picnic basket to replenish a few calories after crossing the finish line. Prices for entry are 5k = £17, 10k = £20, 15k = £23
Those runners who haven’t taken part in organised events before but are looking for a spring goal are also welcome. The flat course will be perfect for the less competitive and support along the route should be good as the organisers are putting on a bouncy castle, face painting, tombola and other games for all members of the family to enjoy. There is also a free 100m dash for kids.
The Starfish Breakfast Run is organised by the Starfish Greathearts Foundation, a UK-based charity that supports children with HIV and AIDS in South Africa. This year Starfish has once again teamed up Wasserman Media Group, sports and entertainment specialists, who have donated their time and expertise to make the 2016 event even better than last year.
To sign up for the event online, please visit starfishcharity.org. All proceeds support the work of Starfish Greathearts Foundation.
