Head down to Sydney Harbour on Boxing Day, squeeze amongst the crowds and watch as the many colourful sails burst forth into the briny mass towards the Bass Strait. There are plenty of good vantage points from which to observe the race, and assume that the best ones are already well-known. Try Sydney Harbour National Park, either on Watson’s Bay, Manly or Mosman side and catch them as they head out into the wide ocean.
It’s free to watch, so you don’t even have to feel bad about that second bowl of corn flakes before you head out for the day!
The race starts at 1pm on 26th December 2014 and continues until the 30th. Check out the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race website for information on the ins and outs on the day! There’s even a yacht tracker for when you get home and wonder how the boats are doing and where they are.
