Patrick Wolf (Bloody Chamber)

Patrick Wolf’s left-field pop has always been as flamboyant as his dress sense, and his fourth album hardly bucks this trend.

Indeed Wolf’s trademark multi-instrumentalism seems to reach an apogee on The Bachelor, rendering tunes Count Of Casualty and Vulture as wondrous baroque versions of Hot Chip-style electro dance.

It can all get a bit OTT, as on ponderous violin-led Theseus, but there’s never a dull moment.
