It’s a surprise to learn that Battle For The Sun is only Placebo’s sixth album.
At any rate, the long-serving trio have long since passed the point where they’re likely to draw in a huge new constituency of fans.
Battle For The Sun comes billed as the group’s cheeriest record yet, but only diehards will probably be able to tell the difference: the grinding riffs and sharp-edged vocals of tracks such as Devil In The Details seem cut from the group’s usual cloth.
