Other stars announced for series 10 of the dancing competition include Girls Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh, 56-year-old former model Jerry Hall, national treasure Fern Britton and EastEnders’ Sid Owen (or, to call him by his more often used name, Rickoooooooiiiiiiiii).

TV presenter turned musical star Denise Van Outen is already a hot favourite among betting types, while ex-Emmerdale star Lisa Riley could prove a dark horse.

Other celebs holding themselves up to ridicule every Saturday night until Christmas include Olympic gymnast Louis Smith, Westlife sap Nicky Byrne, old school kids’ TV presenter Johnny Ball and cricket captain Michael Vaughan.

A total of 14 stars will be hitting the dancefloor when Strictly Come Dancing starts up again. Say farewell to social Saturday nights.
