It boasts polished wood furnishings, as well as black and white photos hanging on the walls. The main bar has plenty of seating and a few nooks and crannies to park yourself in, and there’s a beer garden for the warmer weather.
It’s a thriving drinking spot, which often fills up fast, so if you get a table, make sure you keep it. Staff are chilled and super-friendly, with the names and nationalities of the team listed on the wall. Try to guess who is who.

THE GRUB : Quality pub grub and a ‘healthy’ menu, which includes tuna steaks, salads and a homemade beef patt served with roast vegetables and goats cheese. Check out the substantial selections of pies (including the ocean pie: salmon, smoked haddock and pollock in a creamy parsley sauce topped with a cheddar crumb pastry) and pop in on a sunday, when the Malt House serves up a variety of roasts.

BEHIND THE BAR : Good range of beers, and a selection of real ales including London Pride and Black Sheep., from £3.95. Wine from £4.40 a glass; £16 a bottle. Cocktails from £7.

VERDICT : Pop in for a weekend pint when you’re in Fulham, order a meal and let the afternoon slip by in a haze of warmth and friendly faces.
