Hallelujah: after six albums that mixed artless outsider rock with crunchy schmindie with only sporadic success, Blur guitarist Graham Coxon has finally got the hang of this solo-career lark. Apparently a concept album tracing the arc of one man’s life, The Spinning Top is a largely acoustic affair, and much the better for it on songs such as Brave The Storm. His voice remains the weediest in rock music, but here it doesn’t clash with its surroundings.
