Balka’s How It Is is a massive, empty shipping container, lined with black velvet.

Apparently it alludes to Polish history and the immigrant experience. Or something. And the sheer minimalism – wow! Only an empty room with no windows could top this. Mind-blowing.

You’ll either be thrilled by Balka’s daring installation, or you’ll despair at the depths of chin-stroking affectation plumbed by modern art.
