Tony Scott took his own life on August 20 by leaping from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in Los Angeles. Reports quickly emerged that a suicide note had been found in his office, with an inoperable brain tumour cited as a potential reason for his action.
Scott’s wife Donna Wilson though, has described these reports as “absolutely false”.
Chief investigator for the coroner’s office Craig Harvey, has said: “A family spokesman told us late this afternoon that the information was not true, but we will be looking at everything.”
The Newcastle-born filmmaker had directed such films as The Taking of Pelham 123 with John Travolta and the Tom Cruise starring Eighties classic Top Gun, to which he was about to begin working on a sequel.
