Trailfinders and Kuoni have been hailed the best holiday companies, following a survey by consumer rights magazine Which?

The travel companies both scored 80 per cent in the survey which evaluated customer service, accommodation and value for money.

P&O Cruises, Travel Republic and Saga made it into the top five.

Big names like Thomson, Thomas Cook and First Choice did not make it into the top 10, but were included in the top 20.

At the bottom of the list was easyJet Holidays which scored 61 per cent of the vote.

The average cost of a break was £677, while the average cost of a staycation was £313.

A holiday to mainland Spain cost an average of £455, while a trip to South Africa was an average of £1,313. Holidays to Scandinavia worked out the most expensive in Europe, setting Which? readers back an average of £842 per person.
