For the last two years running drivers have walked out on Boxing Day.

Talks in with Transport for London are in process, but if they are unsuccessful it’s quite likely the Boxing Day strike will take place for a third year. As many as 2,200 members could be balloted.

ASLEF is negotiating triple pay and a day off in lieu in return for Tube drivers working on bank holidays.

Mick Whelan, from Aslef, said to the BBC: ‘We have not seen any positive response, but we are hoping it will be resolved.
“The company has only recently agreed to sit around the table with us.”

The London Underground has a long-standing agreement with trade unions that employees may have to work on bank holidays, including Boxing Day.
