The BDO Employment Index, which measures the hiring intentions of UK companies over the next three months, has shown an increase from 108.8 in June to 109.6 July, indicating a steady increase will likely continue until the end of the year. This means job prospects are the best since the financial crisis, or indeed in the last 16 years.
The services industry is driving the upturn, which means jobs ideal for expats – bar and restaurant work, for example – are on the increase.
The report also flagged that construction firms are in need of skilled workers; so much so that many are currently turning work down due to a lack of trained staff. This could affect employment growth on a wider scale, so if you’re handy, grab this opportunity with both calloused hands, we say.
